| Today the best known "Tønder Lace" has the french "Lace de Lille" as
model. The ground is always net ore tull, often with square dots. The pattern is made by cloth stitch surrounded by a gimp. In the motives there may be honeycomb ore Russian stitch. Now and then there are small spiders. The name of the pattern may be: carnation, rose, strawberry or snail. The pattern was often named after the lacemakers: Ellen, Nora, Lisette ore named after the place, where it was made.
